BFAM: How did you get started with spoken word?
JB: In 2006, I went to a poetry slam in Bowling Green, Kentucky(shout out to Green House Poetry). It was there that I saw a gentlemen named Kane spit a poem about his best friend. He told the story so beautifully and with so much heart that it inspired me to write down my deepest desires on paper. After trying to write about love, money and fame, i realized I sucked at it. But one night as I began to write I felt like God was whispering to me "What about me? Where am I? Who am I" and that right there just tore my heart. I had all my priorities backwards. See, the God who gives gifts just wanted me to write and tell people about Him, Jesus. Ever since then my heart pours out pen to paper and I let everybody know about the Most High through spoken word because he is the answer to every situation.

BFAM: Any current spoken word projects that you're working on?
Currently I am working on an album of all the writing right now. It is going to be called ROOTED which stands for Rapidly Opening Others Thoughts Every DAY. Everybody has roots, something that grounds you. For me, I am rooted with the word of God, so I just want to share with people that then can be rooted too.

BFAM: How have you been able to use your gift of spoken word to minister to others?
God has really blessed me through this spoken word. He literally has opened doors I never thought I would walk through. I have ministered across Churches nation wide from 5 people to 3,000 people. I have even used the gift to minister to people on the red Coca Cola steps in New York's Times Square. Every time I still get nervous.
