The Great Jim Lampley

How could I even speak of entertainment from the Pacquiao/Clottey fight, and withhold the most entertaining 30 seconds of the entire fight, and quite possibly, of boxing history. By now, it’s probably all over every blog/twitter account out there, but just in case you missed it, BANG! Here it is.

When I was watching this live, I don’t think I fully comprehended how amazing this moment was in terms of boxing announcing history. “…body shot! BANG!…BANG!…BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!” It has to go down as one of the best calls ever. “Here I come. BANG!” The honesty in Jim Lampley’s voice is incredible. “BANG! Try and stop it!” His frustration, as a boxing fan, just pours out of him. “You wanna throw sometime? BANG!” For a second there, I thought John Witherspoon stole the microphone. The only thing that could’ve made this any better is if he threw in a “MUTHAF—ER!” in between “BANG’s”.
